For those in the USA
So as I’m sure you all know things regards shipping back and forth changed radically with the coming of Covid, special heat treated crates, no more pallets and the prices went through the roof.
Covid passed and gradually things got better, still heat treated crates but also heat treated pallets were back, the prices went down, shocking isn’t it that once something has gone up it never returns to the same always a little more.
Just being able to use a pallet again reduced the price, the shipping is always calculated by length, width, height and weight, obviously a big crate weighs much more than a pallet.
Things settled down as you know and along came Mr Trump and introduced tariff’s being in England and having a trade deal things were not so bad and substantially better than in other European countries, everything settled down and then bang, Mr Trump again with the introduction of import duty.
The HTS code, short for Harmonised Tariff Schedule, is used by US Customs to determine the precise duty percentage. On average, goods from the UK are subject to duty rates between 2% and 5%, although exceptions exist for items such as luxury goods or electronics, which may face higher rates.
So 2 to 5% not so bad, obviously you have a reduction of 20% when you buy from the site so even at 5% it still leaves you 15% to put towards whatever the price of shipping is, unfortunately it is very much a case of those that buy big will save more and so even with import duty and shipping still be in front of the site price, those buying single items as always will not do so well.
If we had any kind of control believe us we would implement it for you but unfortunately **it is, what it is** as they say!
